Gabriele Del Torchio was born in 1951 in Caravate, Varese. In April 2013 he became CEO of Alitalia – Compagnia Aerea Italiana Spa.
He graduated in Economics at the Sacro Cuore Catholic University in Milan and started his career at the “Banca Commerciale Italiana”.
In 1975 he joined Sperry New Holland S.p.a., a worldwide leader in agricultural machinery, where he was appointed President and CEO of Ford New Holland S.p.a.
In 1990 he became CEO and subsequently President of Fai Komatsu S.p.a.
He was CEO of CIFA S.p.a. from 1998 to 2000 and, as from 2000, President and CEO of APS S.p.a., the Multiutility company for the city of Padua (energy, transport, environment and telecommunications).
From 2003 to 2005 he took on the role of CEO of Carraro Group, world leader in components and systems for the automotive sector, expanding the company’s market share in Asia.
From 2005 to 2007 he was CEO of Ferretti Group, one of the leading companies in the world of design and construction of luxury motoryachts and sporting boats.
Since May 2007 he has been CEO of Ducati Motor Holding SpA, of which in January 2009 he was also appointed President. Under his leadership, the company relaunched its corporate image and, in 2012, achieved all-time record sales.
