60 YEARS OF ALITALIA
On May 5th, Alitalia will be turning 60 – a significant milestone in the life of any company. Since that maiden flight in 1947, Alitalia has fostered the country's growth day in, day out whilst embodying the very idea of travel, discovery and the fulfilment of potential in the mind of every Italian. It is a story that spans entire generations from the time civil aviation made its debut in European skies, and still goes on.
Today Alitalia is inaugurating a new chapter in its history and is gearing up for new challenges and opportunities. Its focus on the future does not diminish the relevance of its present anniversary, of course. On the contrary, here is a chance to reaffirm that Alitalia exists thanks to the extraordinary professionalism of all its people, who have worked tirelessly over the years to create a class-leading airline and a paragon of safety worldwide.
The brand-enhancement campaign that was launched to celebrate this anniversary was conceived to remind individual customers – Italians in general and the wider market – of the role Alitalia has played throughout these years as a genuine travel icon. Nine extraordinarily evocative images of key Italian, European and other international cities whose streets, squares and rivers are replaced by clouds are meant to convey the message that, for fully 60 years now, the sky has been our way to make your world a larger place.
