NETWORK
The Alitalia summer timetable began on March 30, 2008. The new network has been designed to provide our customers with more frequent flights and more convenient schedules from all the main Italian cities to the rest of the world, via Rome Fiumicino. The Company is returning to its traditional mission as a carrier serving Italy. For this reason, the 2008 summer schedule places Italy at the centre of the network so that our country is no longer just a transit point on international routes but a destination in itself.

Destinations and flights: overall, the Company serves 84 destinations of which 25 are domestic, 45 international and 14 intercontinental. Every day, our customers can choose from a greater number of flights from all the main Italian cities to Rome Fiumicino, where they can continue their journeys in Italy and to the rest of the world. The number of flights per week, concentrated on Rome Fiumicino, goes up from 1,406 to about 1,600. Therefore, the whole of Italy is better connected to the rest of the world via Rome’s airport.

Faster connections: Alitalia’s new network has also been designed to make flight connections more convenient and quicker. For example, intercontinental journeys have been made much quicker for passengers leaving from Italian cities with a transit stop at Fiumicino. Here are a few examples: Turin-Buenos Aires, less 30 minutes; Verona-New York, less 60 minutes; Verona-Tunis, less 95 minutes; Bari-Miami, less 70 minutes; Catania-São Paulo, less 60 minutes.
