The Alitalia commitment for the people affected by the earthquake in Central Italy
Alitalia has joined in the relief activity following yesterday's devastating earthquake in central Italy.
The airline has offered support through a specialist team trained in psychological assistance for families and friends of those tragically killed, as well as to those left homeless.
A fundraising campaign has also been launched among the company’s staff who can now make voluntary donations to a bank account dedicated to help in the relief effort.
Alitalia will also make on board special announcements during all of its flights to raise more money by promoting the "solidarity earthquake emergency number" - 45500 - set up by the Italian Department of Civil Protection.
Sheets, blankets, cutlery, plates, trays and other much-needed goods for people affected are also ready to be delivered.
Alitalia's partner Etihad Airways is also helping with the relief effort. It has opened up an emergency fund in Abu Dhabi for its staff and is arranging to send thousands of blankets to the affected zone.
