Alitalia’s board of directors met today to review the strategic direction of the second phase of the airline’s industrial plan. The board will convene again during the month of December to approve formally the detailed business plan.
Cramer Ball, Chief Executive Officer, and the airline’s senior executive team presented to the board the framework of the next stage of the business strategy which reflects the significant changes to market conditions since the launch of ‘new’ Alitalia in late 2014.
The board also took note of the resignations of board members Jean Pierre Mustier and Paolo Colombo who resigned after their recent appointments to new responsibilities, and Antonella Mansi who resigned for personal reasons. The board expressed its gratitude for their work and commitment towards Alitalia. The new appointments will be announced at the next board or shareholders meeting.
Alitalia has also appointed Jorge Vilches as the company’s Chief Commercial Officer, reporting directly to Cramer Ball. Mr Vilches, a Spanish national, has extensive experience in the airline industry and has covered global commercial management at LATAM Airlines Group in South America. Most recently he was CEO of the Pullmantur Cruiseline Group.
