Operating since 2000, the company has a workforce of more than 3,200 people and runs a network of nine airports: five in Italy (Fiumicino, Palermo, Catania, Naples and Cagliari) and four abroad (London Heathrow, Frankfurt, Brussels, Athens). Alitalia Airport’s core business is toprovide its customer airlines with a range of services such as check-in, boarding and disembarkation, baggage handling, dealing with mislaid luggage, cargo and mail handling, onboard cleaning, ramp services and aircraft centring.

In particular, passenger assistance is handled by 960 employees. Alitalia Airport’s logo appears on 72 check-in desks, 36 desks for transit passengers, 21 ticketing desks, 4 VIP lounges, 12 lost & found offices. Aircraft assistance involves 1,620 employees. Every day they operate 62 runway freight elevators, 27 runway buses for taking passengers to/from planes, 155 cars, 18 vehicles for towing and pushing aircraft, 150 tractors and more than 1,000 baggage trolleys.

In its day-to-day activities, the company’s approach is based on two fundamental principles: understanding and sharing the needs of the airlines being assisted, and considering each passenger as your own customer.
